Requirements for Becoming a Member of the BCSLA

- The Road To Registration (PDF)
To
become a member of the BCSLA, candidates must successfully complete an oral
exam conducted by the provincially appointed Board of Examiners.
There are two methods to qualify for the exam: a) Internship (for
those who have applicable education and / or experience in landscape
architecture) or b) Reciprocity (for those who are registered as landscape
architects in good standing in another jurisdiction and have been so for 10
or more years, or are CLARB certified).

- Landscape Architecture Registration Exams
(LARE)
The LARE and Computerized LARE (C/LARE) have been developed by the Council
of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) to aid member
boards in providing an examination that will assure uniformity of testing
from one Board to the other. The LARE are designed to determine whether
applicants for landscape architectural licensure possess sufficient
knowledge, skills and abilities to provide landscape architectural services
without endangering the health, safety and welfare of the public. Click

From Section A to E - PPI has the LARE covered. Whether you are preparing
for a multiple-choice or a graphic section, PPI gives you the power to pass
with the most current and comprehensive practice materials for the LARE.
BCSLA has joined forces with the
UBC Library in support of a book donation program. BCSLA
donates funds that are matched by the Library for the purchase of
books to help candidates prepare for the LARE and for the profession. The program has purchased
seventeen books since 2002 and the program will continue this year. Contact the
BCSLA for more information.

Continuing Education Policy and
Monitoring Form (PDF)
The CE program became mandatory at the beginning of 2004 after a three-year
voluntary program. To maintain the
objectives of the Society; the Continuing Education Initiative; and to
strengthen the public's confidence in the BCSLA, all Registered Landscape
Architects, Landscape Architects, Inactive Landscape Architects and Intern Landscape Architects are requested to annually
monitor their Continuing Education activities as outlined in the policy.

Canadian
Universities
Accredited programs in
landscape architecture in Canada are those that have met the standards of the
Landscape Architecture Accreditation Council. These programs have been evaluated
and found to provide the required instruction, faculty, facilities and financial
support to deliver a sound program as demanded by the profession and the public.
Accreditation reviews take place every five years. These programs are also
recognized by the ASLA Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board. For a
