Biomimicry Workshop: Urban Vitality Inspired by Nature NatuR&D Jun 7, 2018 : 12:00 pm to Jun 9, 2018 : 3:45 pm
On June 7 & 8 at the Horticultural Center off Interurban Road we will be hosting Urban Vitality Inspired by Nature- an event which is based on the practice of biomimicry - learning from Nature. Poster Attached.   We want leaders in the various fields and disciplines to meet each other and have a chance to ideate and innovate together so that we can bring about higher performance in our human built and natural systems as well as a healthier interface between them.   We are bringing decision-makers, designers, engineers, biologists and community builders to explore Nature’s approach to solving problems. This is the beginning of a strategy to build local capacity around this practice.     The 1.5 day workshop will be an overview of the concepts central to the practice of biomimicry with an applied learning challenge. There will be lots of hands-on work and time outside with good people thinking and designing together.    Please circulate to those who you think may be interested. Refreshments are included and full commitment is desired.
Here is a link to one of my favourite overviews of biomimicry which speaks to some of the many application spaces.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf4oW8OtaPY   All the best, Anne-Marie
