Exterior Painting and Historic Colours Workshop Vancouver Heritage Foundation Apr 28, 2018 : 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Join Heritage Consultant Donald Luxton to discover the history of exterior painting of homes in Vancouver and how colour can enhance modern-day restorations. Donald was involved in the development of Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s True Colours Palette in 1999, identifying many of the colours from the analysis of hundreds of buildings in Vancouver. He will talk about how paint was originally mixed on site, the evolution of paint technology and colours, and how paint was applied to different architectural styles in the late 19th and 20th centuries. He will also discuss the key points to consider when planning exterior painting and hiring a painting company. This 3-hour workshop will include a visit to some nearby homes that showcase historic colours and their application. This workshop is geared towards homeowners and heritage professionals alike. This event will occur at Strathcona Church (431 Princess Ave) and tickets are $30.
