Meet outside Starbuck’s Coffee at Georgia & Granville (next to London Drugs)

Join Heritage expert Anthony Norfolk on a tour of one of Vancouver’s oldest commercial streets – Granville.

Norfolk was involved in developing the 1991 comprehensive plan for the Downtown South and remains an active advocate for its preservation.

The plan for Granville Street's 800 to 1200 blocks promoted retention of existing scale and Heritage resources as a spur to revitalization of the Street. Development of an entertainment district has come about at the northern section as planned. The southern section has not yet evolved into the Main Street for Downtown South as hoped for. Development pressures constantly threaten the 1991 still current policy protecting the unique scale and character of Granville Street. These pressures have to be continually resisted

During the walk you will explore the 22 buildings currently on the City of Vancouver's Heritage Register and eleven additional buildings recommended for inclusion.
