We are looking for someone who wants to solve meaningful problems and create beautiful, functional, and engaging public spaces. Space2place is a learning and teaching environment. You will learn how to be a better designer, sell your ideas to others, and how to take and give feedback.
In addition to working collaboratively with a team to solve problems, you also need to be able to be able to convince a tough audience that your idea is the best solution.. You must be adept at communication with clients, consultants and the general public. You should excel at generating your own ideas, and not be upset about being asked to flesh out someone else’s ideas.
We are a small studio and everyone who works here has to be motivated, adaptable and have the ability to collaborate with others.
The person we’re looking for has:
- a keen intellectual curiosity
- a strong sense of craft
- is able to evaluate what makes a place successful.
- is interested in invention and understanding how things work.
- the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines (research, design, communication, ecology, planning, construction).
- a solid understanding of both design theory and practical tools
- perspective and won't hesitate to tell clients what they they might be afraid to hear
- verbal communication and reasoning skills, including the ability to make a business case for design
- at least a few years of related experience.
This is a permanent, full-time job beginning as soon as we find the right person.
We are located in Vancouver and your seat will have a view of the mountains.
