Landscape Architecture Student

We are looking to add students to our landscape architecture team for a 4-month work term starting in May 2024!
Working alongside seasoned professionals and recent graduates alike, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and communities, such as municipal government, provincial government, indigenous communities, and land development clients.

•Communicating and collaborating with internal and external project teams
•Preparing and reviewing detailed design drawings including custom construction details and specifications
•Supporting the preparation of conceptual design packages and visualizations using hand and computer rendering techniques
•Performing site inspections and attending construction meetings to support the administration of construction contracts
•Identifying risks and troubleshooting potential solutions
•Advocating for the importance of the landscape architecture industry and assisting in raising the profile of the practice

As a student, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. The following projects and skills are not an exhaustive list and may fluctuate based on capacity and interest.

Fort St John, BC
Our Fort St John branch is comprised of 30 professionals who provide service to local governments and Indigenous communities throughout northern BC. In our growing branch you can expect to be involved in multi-disciplinary landscape architecture projects, such as:
•Park and playground planning, design and construction, streetscape design and construction, and land use and site planning with local governments and Indigenous communities.

This will allow you to develop your skills and understanding related to:
•Concept design and planning, community engagement, detailed design and drafting, site inspection and contract administration, and collaboration across different disciplines.

Golden, BC
Our Golden office is a creative design studio nestled beside the Kicking Horse River and surrounded by soaring mountains. With a growing team of practitioners in landscape architecture and civil engineering, this 4-person team provides consulting services to First Nations and municipal clients throughout the Kootenays and beyond. In our growing branch you can expect to be involved in multi-disciplinary landscape architecture projects, such as:
•Park and playground planning, design and construction, streetscape design and construction, and land use and site planning with local governments and Indigenous communities.

This will allow you to develop your skills and understanding related to:
• Concept design and planning, community engagement, detailed design and drafting, site inspection and contract administration, and collaboration across different disciplines.

Vancouver, BC
Our Vancouver branch is comprised of 100 professionals across many disciplines. We work closely with civil engineers, transportation engineers, planners, GIS professionals, environmental specialists, and more. This means you'll be contributing to interdisciplinary projects with the opportunity to hone different skill sets. You can expect to be involved in landscape architecture projects, such as:
•Urban plaza detailed design, tendering support, and construction administration, comprehensive community plans, community engagement data analysis, operation and maintenance plans, and internal documentation and production of landscape architecture standards, best practices, and portfolio.

Through these projects you will develop your skills and understanding related to:
•CAD drafting and detailing (including Land FX plugin for landscape architecture), digital drawing skills using software like Sketchbook and Adobe Suite, construction administration, and public engagement.

Calgary, AB
Our Calgary branch is comprised of 170 professionals across many disciplines. Our team works closely with many other professionals including civil and transportation engineers, planners, environmental specialists and more to deliver projects in the Calgary and greater area,
southern Alberta and the Kootenays. You can expect to be involved in landscape architecture projects, such as:
•Municipal and land development projects comprised of public plazas, park spaces, wetlands, and green corridors. Drafting of standard details and construction packages, site visits and inspection, data collection, research, and development.

This will allow you to develop your skills and understanding related to:
•Landscape architecture in the public and private sectors, drafting and project delivery, construction, consulting and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary firm.

Rate of Pay: 
$22 - $28 per hour
Education: 

This position is ideal for students currently enrolled in a Landscape Architecture program, such as a Technologist diploma, Bachelors/Masters, or equivalent. Related experience will be beneficial but not required.

•Research – you are comfortable conducting research, including the collection and analysis of qualitative and/or quantitative data
•Problem-solving – you enjoy applying theory and conducting research to provide workable solutions related to the implementation of your work
•A valid Class 5 Drivers License and access to a personal vehicle would be an asset
