Landscape Design Technician

The Engineering, Parks and Environment Department requires a temporary full-time Landscape Design Technician for approximately one (1) year. We are seeking a “people person” with strong interpersonal skills and contract administration experience, to join the Parks and Environment Division. We have many exciting initiatives and projects underway, ranging from master-planning to site scale design, greenway planning and implementation, to playground design, and sports field construction. You will join our team-oriented group of designers and planners working on a variety of meaningful projects that support our active, accessible, and healthy community. You will perform skilled technical work in the planning, design and implementation of parks and greenway projects. The work will entail preparing design drawings and public consultation materials, participating in open houses, preparing cost/quantity take-offs, preparing construction documents including grading and planting plans, detailed designs and preparing specifications and conducting field inspections and contract administration of works under construction. In addition, you will perform various research activities, prepare correspondence and reports, assist in reviewing consultant work and provide information to stakeholders and the public.

Education: 

You will have completed courses in drafting, environmental and landscape architectural design leading to, or resulting in, a diploma or degree in landscape design or landscape architecture and have sound related experience. Computer proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD, as well as a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License are required.
