Landscape Designer & Project Manager

The Position: HML Contracting Ltd. is currently looking for a full time Landscape Designer. Someone who is very personable, who is driven, and who enjoys seeing projects through from start to finish. Major Responsibilities: • Design landscape construction projects ranging from $20k - $350k • Responsible for conducting design meetings with clients and other contractors • Prepare and perform design presentations to clients • Calculate material quantities, and aid in estimating construction projects • Review construction drawings, attend site meetings, and perform quantity take-offs for Commercial Construction Projects • Learn to understand commercial contract terms, conditions, and specifications • Prepare handoff packages for field staff, outlining project specifics and material lists, and conduct site walkthroughs • Oversee your landscape design being constructed – manage change orders, participate in billing, review work development, handle client concerns, and manage purchasing documentation • Coordinate between crew members, clients, suppliers, and other contractors Background (Education/Licenses/Work Experience): • Post Secondary diploma or degree in Landscape design • 0-5 years Landscape Design or Landscape Construction experience • Knowledgeable in landscape construction materials and installation processes • Knowledgeable in hardy plant material and its growing requirements • Construction experience is an asset • Proficient in AutoCAD or Dynascape design programs • Able to produce a rendered/coloured design and 3D perspective for presentations – using hand graphics or computer tools like SketchUP • Able to read, interpret and analyze construction drawings • Strong Math, Reading, Writing and Oral communication skills • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle • Is knowledgeable of the Safety COR certificate and construction standards. • Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment • Able to work independently and as part of a team Personal Characteristics: • Must be willing to work flexible hours • Attention to detail and great work ethic • Able to meet deadlines • Creative and practical • Self-motivated and driven • Organized and punctual • Personable Wage: 45K-65K salary
