Landscape Maintenance Labour

Job Summary

The Maintenance Labourer assists the Maintenance Foremen on all field work as it relates to the maintenance department.

Responsibilities

  •  Assist the Maintenance Foreman in completing assigned tasks on job sites
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  • Always inspect equipment prior to use
  • Notify management of deficiencies in equipment
  • Complete required training on all equipment and Company policies and procedures
  • Act as a Company ambassador whenever in uniform
  • Polite, professional attitude
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain an ordered appearance as described in the Operations Manual
  • Be courteous to the general public
  • Participate in safety related meetings (toolbox talks) and wear correct Personal Protective Equipment as required

Physical Requirements

This position is 100% labour and as such, individuals must be in good physical condition and be able to lift weight in excess of 50 lbs, bending, crouching, twisting, and standing/walking for long periods of time.

Work Environment

This position is 100% outside. Individuals will be subject to varied weather including extreme heat and cold, rain and snow. Individuals are encouraged to wear layers and sunscreen when required.

Education: 

 

  • Completion of Secondary School
  • Post-secondary education in the field of horticulture an asset
  • Industry certifications an asset (ie: Pesticide Applicator)

 

Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience or education equivalent
  • Experience working in an outdoor, laborious position

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of local plant life
  • Mechanical aptitude (troubleshooting)
  • Previous experience with landscape machinery (mowers, line trimmers, blowers)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a team environment
