The School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver campus, invites applications for a term faculty appointment at the rank of Lecturer in Landscape Technologies and Practice to begin July 01, 2024. This is a non-tenure track position with primary responsibilities dedicated to teaching and service. The initial appointment will be for 2 years including a probationary year, and is renewable and extendable subject to demonstrated excellence in teaching. The FTE for this position will be based on the needs of the School and will range from 80% to 100%. We seek candidates who demonstrate a commitment to advancing the profession of landscape architecture with an emphasis on emerging technologies, materials innovation, landscape performance, and climate responsiveness. We are looking for a colleague who believes that the design of our built environments must be both artful and responsive to the challenges of our times such as climate change, Truth and Reconciliation, equity and inclusion while enriching places and people’s lives.
The successful candidate will contribute to deepening emerging trends and practices in landscape architecture within pedagogical and curricular initiatives. We welcome candidates who aim to bring their understanding of practice to SALA and use teaching as a way of exploring new ideas and concepts. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses covering topics including, site design and analysis, landform and stormwater management, landscape construction and materials, and professional practice and provide service to the University and the community. Teaching requirements as well as supervision of graduate projects and service will be based on the needs of the School and will vary per academic year based on the FTE %.
