The City of Coquitlam is offering an exciting opportunity in our Strategic Initiatives Department. We are seeking an individual who is proactive and solutions and results-oriented and possesses strong leadership and interpersonal skills in the planning, management and delivery of capital construction projects, including public facilities and park infrastructure. If you are an experienced manager, who thrives on working in partnership with diverse teams to achieve excellence and has a proven track record in managing the new construction of civic/institutional buildings and park facilities of all types and sizes, then this position may be for you.

 

 

 

MANAGER CAPITAL CONSTRUCTION

 

 

 

As part of the leadership team in the Strategic Initiatives Department and reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for formulating and executing the strategies required for delivering the City’s construction of civic/institutional facilities, including park projects within budget, on schedule and consistent with high standards of public service and quality. This leadership role requires a critical thinker, innovator and problem solver, as well as a strong, competent and ethical leader. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of having successfully managed multiple capital construction projects, including the construction of park projects.  In addition, experience in managing all aspects of public construction projects, including identifying the social implications associated with the construction of civic projects and implementing a plan to manage these implications is a must.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary degree in engineering, architecture or planning supplemented by courses in project management, business, finance, or related field.  In addition, a minimum of 7 - 10 years of related management experience in construction is required, including sound knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting, strategic planning, scheduling, procurement, fore-casting, monitoring, reporting and cost control.  Key to success is the ability to construct and manage facilities as well as parks and other City open space projects to a public infrastructure standard and delivery of service.  Professional membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia or equivalent would be an asset.

Education:
