The City of Maple Ridge is recruiting for a Manager of Parks & Open Space. In this exciting opportunity you will lead and manage the Parks Maintenance Operations Section. You will manage short and long term maintenance, operations and construction programs for all municipal parks, trails, sports fields, urban forest, grounds park and school sites. Develop, recommend and implement plans for changes in parks operations.
You will work closely with the Manager of Facilities Operations and the Manager of Parks Planning and Design to determine the need for new parks, amenities and infrastructure replacement, and contributes to the development process for new and existing parkland.
You will be a sound communicator with proven organizational skills and be comfortable managing and supervising staff in a unionized environment. Have proven skills in the areas of staff and public relations, budget preparation and control, park and open space maintenance, parks project management,
This position will appeal to someone who has several years of related parks maintenance experience, preferably in Parks & Recreation. University Degree in Parks Administration, Environmental Studies, Forestry or related field with knowledge and background in horticulture, arboriculture, trails, parks construction, integrated pest management and considerable related experience in natural park lands operations preferably in a municipal environment or equivalent combination of training and experience.
