Mapping Technician I

This is technical mapping work in the preparation and maintenance of City base, legal, and utility servicing maps, and in recording and computing related non graphic data using computer assisted techniques and equipment.  Employees of positions in this class research and utilize a wide variety of source data and enter same; prepare and/or revise drawings and maps for a variety of engineering projects; compile and assemble non graphic data and establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

Education: 

You have obtained you high school diploma and supplemented your education by courses in computer¬ized mapping at an Institute of Technology, plus sound related City mapping experience, or an equivalent combina¬tion of training and experi¬ence. 

Experience: 

You will bring strong knowledge of: ESRI ArcGIS 10.2.1 and other ESRI extensions, Microsoft applications; GIS analysis; water utility/civil record drawing reading/interpretation; spatial editing; and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
