We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to join our Parks, Recreation & Culture team as a Parks Planner 2 to assist with the development of our park system. This role involves acting as the City’s representative on a variety of strategic parks-related initiatives including geographic distribution, park programming, accessibility, environmental protection and sustainable development of park assets.
Your thorough knowledge of park needs is ideally demonstrated by having a degree in Landscape Architecture or land-use planning, or similar discipline such as public policy. You have considerable related experience and have eligibility for full membership in the Planning Institute of BC and/or eligibility in the BC Society of Landscape Architects.
You’ve worked in professional teams under tight deadlines and are able to skillfully navigate the land-use planning and park design processes. Writing complex policy reports and delivering public presentations comes easily to you. You require minimal supervision, have experience supervising staff, possess a positive can-do attitude and are able to tackle various park planning challenges with competency and flair. Love for all things parks, recreation, and culture is desired.
