Architects (Landscape) Act

Following are excerpts from Section 11 and 12 of the Architects Landscape Act.

11.  Objects

The objects of the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects are:

1. to uphold public health, safety and welfare as it relates to the professional practice of landscape architecture in British Columbia;
2. to nurture and further the professional application of landscape architectural knowledge and technique as it relates to the planning, design, development, preservation, protection, restoration, reclamation, rehabilitation, enhancement and management of the environment;
3. to advance landscape architectural knowledge and technique;
4. to further and maintain proper standards of professional landscape architectural practice in British Columbia.

12.  Designation

1. A person who is a member in good standing of the society is entitled to use the designation "Landscape Architect".
2. A person who is not a member in good standing of the society must not assume or use that designation in any manner or represent that the person is entitled to do so.

Agreement on Internal Trade

The Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) is an intergovernmental trade agreement signed by Canadian First Ministers that came into force in 1995. Its purpose is to reduce and eliminate, to the extent possible, barriers to the free movement of persons, goods, services, and investment within Canada and to establish an open, efficient, and stable domestic market.

New West Partnership Trade Agreement

Effective July 1, 2010 the TILMA (Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement) has been expanded to become the New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) between British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Built on the success of the TILMA between Alberta and British Columbia, the NWPTA extends Alberta's and British Columbia's commitments under the former TILMA. In practice, the obligations for British Columbia and Alberta do not change under the NWPTA.
