Your Opportunity

This is a skill-building experience! In this position as a Junior Landscape Architect, you will have unique opportunities to work on projects of local, provincial, and national significance for private and public clients. Your work will include project research, site visits and observation reports, sketching, CAD and computer graphics production, design reviews, and marketing proposal assistance – all under guidance of our inter-disciplinary team.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will work as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Landscape Architect on a variety of projects, ranging in size from urban in-fill projects to subdivision plans. As part of our team, your will collaborate with skilled professionals ranging from initial planning to final commissioning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Intermediate and Senior Landscape Architects with the preparation of design and construction documents.

  • Assist design team in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and construction take offs.

  • Conduct Site Investigations and Construction Inspections.

  • Prepare Presentation Drawings.

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • High Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of designs and construction documents.

  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign with experience working with 3D rendering software an asset (Sketch-up, 3D Max)

  • Fast freehand plan, section, and vignette sketching would be considered an asset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking, email etiquette, and grammar. Bilingualism is an asset.

  • Demonstrated industry practice knowledge and commitment to excellence in customer service.

  • Landscape construction knowledge is considered an asset.

  • Self-motivated and passionate about design.

  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

  • The ability to work with others, as well as independently.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or completion of an accredited landscape architecture education program from a recognized educational institution with a minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience in the Landscape Architecture field. Candidates who are graduating in the Spring of 2022 can apply and may be considered for this position. This position will primarily work in an office setting however, may require some field work. Local and regional travel is expected, and the successful applicant shall supply his or her own vehicle. While we currently find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, Stantec is prepared with the infrastructure available to support individuals working from home. However, to provide the best mentorship experience, we anticipate that this position will predominantly require work in the office while remaining compliant with current public health guidelines. Work from home arrangements may be considered, though in-office presence will be a priority.
