Voir et être Vu (See and Be Seen)
Illarion Gallant, BCSLA Island Chapter Chair, has organized the first island BCSLA Voir et être Vu ( “See and Be Seen”) will be held at the “Open Space Gallery” at 510 Fort St., Victoria on January 14th at 7 P.M. The concept of “See and Be Seen” is a BCSLA driven initiative with the intent of providing a venue for Landscape Architects to showcase projects to likeminded colleagues. “See and Be Seen” is an initiative to develop a “show and tell” forum which gives localized offices and BCSLA members in and around Victoria, Nanaimo and Courtney the opportunity to present projects to a local audience. Please RSVP to [email protected] by 4:00 pm on January 13, 2015.
“See and Be Seen” forums could highlight both individual and group projects. These forums would include projects from individual practitioners as well as an expanded format including larger projects that include other participating professional’s (i.e. planners, architects, engineers). These combined presentations would reinforce the professional symbiotic relationships that evolve when creating projects of magnitude.
Victoria Landscape Architect Michael Bocking of Michael Bocking Landscape Architect Ltd. will make the initial presentation which will be an overview highlighting landscape architecture on Vancouver Island, beginning with the Olmstead 1907 plan for Uplands to the present, touching on locally referenced public outdoor space design.
Immediately following will be a joint presentation by Victoria based Landscape Architect Scott Murdoch of Murdoch Degreeff Inc. and Architect Franc D’Ambrosio of D’AMBROSIO architecture+ urbanism. The presentation will be a detailed examination of their collective relationship in the creation of the Reliable Controls project in Victoria.
Discussion to follow. A light snack will be available.
