POSITION:       Senior Waterpark Designer (Landscape Architect / Architect)

DEPARTMENT:  Architecture

REPORTS TO:   Director of Design

LOCATION:       Richmond, BC Canada

 

PURPOSE:

Responsible for production of  high quality architecture and design work, ­ the Senior Waterpark Designer is a key role participating with clients in waterpark planning, design workshops, detail design of facilities, inclusion of various waterslides complexes theming design including the AquaPlay products and various other play elements.  The Senior Waterpark Designer will also participate in the overview the art work done in the Design department teams to make sure all the drawings delivered to the clients are of highest quality. The candidate will be an accomplished designer with waterpark/amusement park design experience, a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate must hold a degree in either architecture or landscape architecture. A great deal of emphasis will be placed on mindset, interpersonal skills, attitude and ability to work well within a team environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Waterpark Designer will be responsible for the following:

§  Express ideas quickly and powerfully using hand drawings, sketches and graphics

§  Speed and design ability for themed attractions, master planning and concept planning

§  Come up with an overarching theming concept for waterparks and attraction parks

§  Design park buildings accordingly to a theming concept

§  Theme Aquaplay units using various elements matching a theme

§  Draw character sketches (emphasis on hand rendered perspectives, bird eye’s views) describing specific areas of the waterpark/dry park showing themed architecture, landscape and waterslides complexes

§  Create waterpark masterplan at scale showing key internal/ functional relationships,  between the waterslides complexes, the water features (such as wave pool, lazy river, ornamental fountain,...), the buildings (entry, ticket, change room, wc, restaurant…) and the landscaping .

§  Create an Image Study matching a theme, using pictures found on the web or in books

§  Overview the presentation drawings to ensure a consistent style and quality

§  Colour renderings and drawings to make them appealing as much as possible

§  Use the latest trends in the leisure industry to plan and design Waterparks, Aquaplay units and Waterslides complexes

§  Develop new concept to fulfill specific client needs and improving the existing products

§  Continuous improvement of self

§  Contributes to culture of development/sustenance of Continuous Improvement and Lean philosophies

§  Respect for people through positive communication, consideration and collaborative relationships

§  Works hard at being more present; to be open, be interested and be curious.

§  Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards

§  Ensure regular performance feedback through formal performance reviews every 12 months in addition to probationary term reviews

Education: 

§  Education Bachelor or Master Degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture

§  Knowledge of graphic software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Lumion, sketch up, graphics programs

Experience: 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

§  Minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position

§  Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
