  • CSLA and CNLA’s Canadian Landscape Standard (CLS) Steering Committee

• Are you a BCSLA member in good standing?
• Do you have a particular expertise in landscape construction and design standards?
• Are you interested in helping maintain and develop the CLS?

If so, we would be delighted if you would apply to join the CLS Steering Committee!

About the Canadian Landscape Standard

The Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) joined forces to create a national tool that sets guidelines for landscape construction projects across Canada and launched the Canadian Landscape Standard in 2015. It is intended for use by anyone who specifies, designs, builds or maintains landscape work. Using the highly successful BC Landscape Standard as a basis for the Canadian version, the standard is a national document, with regional supplements.

Managed by a joint CNLA-CSLA Steering Committee, the Canadian Landscape Standard is a living document that is continually reviewed and updated to remain current. A subscription keeps users updated as new sections are available and revisions are made.

We are seeking representatives from Atlantic Canada and British Columbia to serve a three-year term (renewable) on the CLS Committee. Meetings are held monthly from September to June by videoconference (for 90 minutes) and an in-person meeting is held exceptionally once every 2 years. All expenses related to committee work will be reimbursed by the CSLA and CNLA.

The responsibilities of the representatives include:
• maintaining the integrity of the standard
• maintaining editorial control on the content
• reviewing the standard and coordinating its updates, and
• suggesting new content.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please forward your expression of interest and resumé to Michelle Legault, at [email protected] by February 1st, 2026. Click here to download an English and French language copy of this opportunity.
