The BCSLA in conjunction with 5 of its Manufacturing partners are putting on a very special event for Landscape Architects, Designers and municipalities. We're putting on an afternoon of installation demonstrations for 5 different sectors of the profession. You can get your hands dirty or stand back and enjoy in what promises to be a very informative afternoon of learning.
The event takes place at Bedrock Natural Stone's fabrication facility in Coquitlam on June 10th, 2026. Here is an outline of the different manufacturers attending the event and what you'll be learning:

The team at Bedrock will be giving you a tour of their fabrication facility, you'll see how we cut, shape and finish natural stone in a multitude of ways taking you from the raw block straight out of the quarry to the finished hardscape/bench or feature.

Marathon Surfaces: From foundation to finish - explore LANDSAFE PIP Rubber Safety Surfacing with a live installation demo, expert guidance on base specifications, and a showcase of colour ratios and inlaid design possibilities.

Romex will be doing a hands on demonstration of their "Trass bed" product in which they'll take you through their mix of stone/Trass cement and water, go through what this base material does and how you can use along with a paver to achieve a 10 year warranty and achieve a fully permeable system.
Citygreen Urban Landscape Solutions - Citygreen - Home
We'll assist the team at Citygreen in laying out a large Soil Cell matrix. They'll talk to how these systems benefit urban tree growth, how they can be used for Stormwater Management and what the best practice base materials are.
Veratec Engineered Products - Landscape Soil - Veratec Engineered Products
Look at Soil composition and learn why different soils are used for different applications. We'll look at Soils for Urban tree growth vs soils for planting vs a fast draining mix for Stormwater Management.
We'll be picking everyone up in buses from outside the Devils Elbow pub in Vancouver (562 Beatty Street) at 11.30am on Wednesday, June 10. Then dropping everyone off at 5.30pm at the same spot. There will be a BBQ upon arrival and the tour/education will begin at 1pm sharp.
