Get involved! The following committees and working groups have openings:
- External Review Committee for the BCSLA Fee Guide (ERC)
Are you a landscape architect looking to earn Continuing Education Credits (CECs) while lending your voice to the upcoming updates of the BCSLA Fee Guide? Or are you an allied professional, perhaps working in procurement, development, or on multidisciplinary teams with landscape architects, interested in shaping a key industry resource? This is your opportunity to contribute your expertise and help guide the development of the final BCSLA Fee Guide.
The purpose of the BCSLA Fee Guide is to assist practicing Registered Landscape Architects and their prospective clients in determining and assessing appropriate professional compensation for services provided within the Province of British Columbia. The guide includes a fee schedule that outlines the minimum compensation necessary to uphold the standards of practice established by the BCSLA. It is important to note that this document serves as a guideline only.
The BCSLA Professional Fee Guide Subcommittee is calling for volunteers who would like to serve on the External Review Committee (ERC). The Committee will review and provide feedback on the draft BCSLA Fee Guide to ensure it reflects current practice and meets the needs of the profession. We are seeking volunteers to represent the following categories:
- 1 Architect (AIBC)
- 1 Engineer (EGBC)
- 1 Public Sector Landscape Architect (working outside the Lower Mainland)
- 1 Developer
- 1 Municipal Procurement Representative
- Up to 3 Private Sector BCSLA Practitioners
The Terms of Reference outline the Committee’s purpose and responsibilities, which include reviewing draft materials, identifying any gaps, and offering constructive recommendations to ensure the final Guide is clear, relevant, and professionally sound. The time commitment includes two virtual meetings (each up to two hours in length) scheduled for late September and early October, along with some advance reading of draft materials.
Interested in participating?
Please email your name, professional designation and/or job title, phone number, and email address to [email protected] by September 2, 2025. Please also indicate your interest in volunteering for the ERC.

Whether you're an expert in governance or simply eager to contribute, we want to hear from you! This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, expand your network, and make meaningful contributions to the evolution of landscape architecture in B.C.
No prior experience in governance? No problem! We'll provide support along the way. Meetings are held the third Tuesday each month between 5:00 pm-6:30 pm (Pacific). Anticipated time commitment is 5-10 hours per month. Email [email protected] for more details.
- Join the BCLNA Drought Committee
The BC Landscape & Nursery Association (BCLNA) is seeking an engaged and knowledgeable BCSLA volunteer representative to join its Drought Committee, a dedicated group advocating for the public in water stewardship during drought and water-use restrictions across British Columbia.
The committee’s work includes:
- Preparing for drought conditions and curtailment orders
- Collaborating with related sectors and government stakeholders
- Developing key messages
- Promoting science-based water conservation strategies tailored to regional needs
This cross-sector committee represents landscape professionals, nursery growers, retailers, and suppliers. Meetings are held about five times a year, primarily in spring and summer, with staff support for logistics and communications.
Ideal candidates will be Registered Landscape Architects in good standing who bring practical insight from the profession, care about sustainable resource management, and want to make a meaningful impact. Previous committee experience is an asset, but not required. To express your interest, contact the BCSLA office by email at [email protected]. Please note, volunteer representatives must be approved by the Board of Directors. This opportunity will remain open until filled.
