Researching the History of a Building Online Vancouver Heritage Foundation Jun 10, 2020 : 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Whether you are researching the history of a house, have noticed an interesting building in the city or want to learn more about the history of a neighbourhood, it can be tricky to know where to start. Join us for this one-hour learning session where we will use a case study to illustrate important tips and tricks to get the most out of resources and tools that are available online.

VHF Special Projects Manager Jessica Quan will share an overview of key online resources as well as VHF projects such as the Heritage Site Finder and Places That Matter Community History Resource, and ways your research can help add to further online education and learning tools. Jessica will cover oral histories, videos, archival images and other forms of digital content. For the second part of the session Archival Assistant at the City of Vancouver Archives, Bronwyn Smyth, will touch on the kinds of records that exist in the Archives’ holdings, and how to use the Archives’ database to search for those records. Bring your questions!

Details of how to join this webinar will be included in the reminder email, one week ahead of the session. The cost is $15.
