Shaping Vancouver 2024: Community-Based Planning Conversation 1 Heritage Vancouver Society Apr 16, 2024 : 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

We will hold our first of several talks in 2024 on community engagement and planning to set the stage for a few discussion events we have in the works on the state of engagement, planning and development centred around people and communities locally. This first event will be a conversation with Irwin Oostindie, Director at VOOR Urban Labs. We will have a wide ranging discussion with Irwin on decolonization in urban planning, the importance of community engagement in neighbourhood planning, the relationships between urban planning and heritage, and the criticisms of community planning, community work and community solutions in the Vancouver context. This first discussion will inform the development of the other discussions on community and planning in the rest of this series.
