The School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA) at the University of British Columbia
(Vancouver), seeks a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in landscape architecture to begin July 1, 2020.
We seek applicants whose research agendas use design strategies to address urgent challenges related to global climate change and spatial justice. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership in one of the three research areas: critical perspectives on landscape technologies, novel ways of visualizing dynamic systems, or investigations in ecological resilience.
The successful candidate will pursue a productive research and scholarship agenda, develop an innovative teaching portfolio that both relates to their research and contributes to the core curriculum and contribute to service within the University and to the academic and professional community. The position includes teaching design studio, digital design representation and visualization, and courses related to their research agenda.
Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of or demonstrated potential for innovative approaches to teaching and to those able to engage with, and contribute to, the design and interdisciplinary culture of SALA, which includes the programs of architecture, urban design, and environmental design. Joining the faculty at SALA also offers the opportunity to engage with a robust network of professional practice, as well opportunities to connect with other UBC departments and programs, such as urban forestry, regional planning, and geography.
Candidates must hold a terminal degree in Landscape Architecture (Master of Landscape Architecture or PhD).
