CAD Technician

Hapa Collaborative is a Vancouver based landscape architecture and urban design practice established with placemaking, attentiveness and collaboration in mind. We are currently looking to add a CAD Technician to join our team.

This is a 4-6 month contract to start to focus on providing specific support for the continued development of the office’s drawing standards, CAD libraries, and construction detail libraries. There is potentially opportunity to remain on the team full time proving drawing support for our various projects using our various tools.

We see each project as an opportunity to partner, to dream big and to synthesize ideas wrought from many, often opposing, influences. Most of all, Hapa Collaborative is a new voice for contemporary landscape design and a small, agile, and fresh alternative to traditional landscape architecture practice. Our studio of twenty plus talented individuals is a fast-paced daily collaboration between people of different backgrounds and a mix of skills and specializations.

You will have foundational knowledge of AutoCAD, industry drafting standards, and construction drawing detailing. To be successful in our environment you must be self-motivated, a good communicator, well-rounded, personable, and collaborative.  Direct experience in the field of landscape architecture considered a plus.

You will report directly to the CAD Manager as well as collaborate with our Senior Design and Leadership team.  We are open to someone to be fully remote for this role, reporting into our Vancouver office.

Duties related to the initial contract will include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating new and editing existing construction documentation standard annotations, text styles, dimension styles, multileader styles, standard blocks, ect.
  • Editing existing generic templates and creating specific template files for plan drawings, section, and detail files
  • Work on updating existing detail library to revised standards and work on adding additional details
  • Create/edit existing CAD procedures manual to reflect updated standards, including creating an example project example to display standards

Candidates for this position should possess, at a minimum:

  • A Diploma in Landscape Architectural Technology or Architectural Building Technology is highly preferred as we find these programs provide the most fundamental knowledge and experience with AutoCAD
  • Those with Bachelor of Environmental Design, Bachelors of Landscape Architecture, Bachelors of Architecture, or equivalent education/work experience are also invited to apply
  • We are open to new grads as well as those with a few years of industry experience
  • Experience in drafting for a Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or Architectural Design is considered the relevant experience and is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with construction documentation industry standards and procedures
  • Familiarity with coordination of work with other consultants, and the preparation of construction plans, details, and specifications
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2020 or newer with formal training in an academic or professional setting Knowledge of Land F/X AutoCAD plugin is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of Revit to be considered a plus, and
  • Ability to be inquisitive, unafraid to ask questions, and work as a self-starting individual as part of a collaborative team
