Horticulturist

We are seeking a Horticulturist join the Paul Sangha Creative team. We are an award-winning landscape architectural practice focused on crafting artful, experiential landscapes for private and public spaces. For over 30 years, our reputation has been built on our dedication to service, high quality and timeless design. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, gain experience in multiple facets of the profession, as well as on a wide range of styles and projects, both locally and internationally.

Experience: 

Recommended Qualifications:
-  A degree, diploma or certificate in horticulture, landscape architecture, or related field
-  A minimum of 3 years experience working in the field of horticulture
-  Exceptional design skills with a portfolio of previous work
-  Knowledge of, and experience designing with, drought-tolerant hardy plant species
-  Design adaptability in working locally and abroad, forging relationships and gathering information
-  A passionate plants person with knowledge of local nurseries, suppliers and plants
-  Ability to read architectural drawings
-  Hand drawing and computer drafting skills
-  Knowledge of Microsoft office
-  Keen interest in learning and exploring new ideas
-  Strong communication skills
-  A professional team player who is focused, well organized, enjoys feedback, detail-oriented, and works well under pressure to meet deadline
-  Driver’s license

 

Additional assets include:
-  Knowledge of Mac computers, Vectorworks for CAD, SketchUp and Adobe CS
-  Horticultural knowledge or experience applicable to other regions and climates
-  Knowledge of resilient and regenerative soil, agricultural and landscape/plant maintenance practices

 

The Horticulturist position includes but is not limited to the following duties:
-  Sourcing trees and plants
-  Site visits for tree and plant placement
-  Design and implementation of detailed planting plans
-  Client liaison and work with growers, nurseries, suppliers and contractors
-  Identification concerns in existing gardens (i.e. Pests/disease)
-  Reviewing maintenance, plant health and providing constructive feedback for clients and landscapers
-  Introduction of new and exciting ideas and plants into each design
-  Site visits for tree and plant placement
