We are looking for a full-time Horticulturist to join our growing Horticulture team at Paul Sangha Creative. We are an award-winning landscape architectural practice focused on crafting experiential landscapes for private and public spaces. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, gain experience in multiple facets of the profession, as well as on a wide range of styles and projects, both locally and internationally.
Recommended Qualifications:
- A horticulture, landscape architecture, or related degree, diploma, or certificate
- Practical field experience
- Creative design skills demonstrated through a portfolio of past work
- Knowledge of and experience in designing with drought-tolerant hardy plant species
- Adaptability in design, whether working locally or internationally, and adept at establishing relationships and gathering information
- Enthusiastic about plants, with knowledge of local nurseries, suppliers, and plant varieties
- Proficiency in reading architectural drawing and in hand drawing and computer drafting
- Eager to learn and explore new concepts and ideas
- Excellent communication skills
- Professional and collaborative team player who is detail-oriented, organized, and values feedback, and can handle pressure to meet deadlines
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
Additional assets include:
- Proficient in using Mac computers and software such as Vectorworks for CAD, SketchUp, and Adobe CS
- Extensive horticultural knowledge or experience that can be applied to various regions and climates
- Familiarity with resilient and regenerative soil practices, as well as agricultural and landscape/plant maintenance techniques
The Horticulturist position includes, but is not limited to the following duties:
- Procuring trees and plants
- Conducting on-site visits to determine optimal tree and plant placement
- Developing and executing comprehensive planting plans with meticulous attention to detail
- Serving as a point of contact for clients and collaborating with growers, nurseries, suppliers, and contractors
- Identifying and addressing issues in existing gardens, such as pests and diseases
- Assessing and providing constructive feedback on maintenance practices and plant health to clients and landscapers
- Introducing innovative ideas and new plant varieties into each design
