PROJECT MANAGER FOR LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION

Donohoe Design is seeking an experienced part-time Project Manager to oversee the installation of our custom landscape designs.  You will manage a variety of residential landscape projects where you will work directly with the clients, sub-contractors and our team of designers.

Job Description:

  • You will manage a variety of residential landscape projects where you will work directly with the clients and sub-contractors
  • Be the main point of contact for clients and contractors including the development of project charters and weekly reports to the team.
  • Using our project management software CoConstruct and Microsoft Excel, you will be required to estimate our concept designs, tender the working drawings and manage the budget of our projects before and during construction.
  • Implement and enforce a safety program on site.
  • Conduct and lead site meetings the lifespan of the project.  During these meetings, you will inspect the quality of the work completed at specific milestones, keep open communication with the team and help to facilitate a smooth construction process.
  • Monitor and manage the schedules using our project management software. 
  • Coordinate and review the construction of softscapes, hardscapes, and large structures such as pools, fencing, stairs, outlooks, and large decks.
  • Use your construction experience to assist the Landscape Architects with material selections when required. This may also include selection of trees, shrubs, and perennials.
  • Manage project risks including the creation of contingency plans to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Create and execute deficiency lists prior to the final walk-through with the clients.
  • Interview landscape maintenance companies and manage them through the first 60 days post construction.
  • Contribution and feedback to the advancement of current processes around project management
  • Create project evaluation reports to learn how to be more efficient during future projects.  
Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience in a project management role that includes the development of high-end residential properties or larger scale landscape construction;
  • A diploma or degree in horticulture or landscape architecture is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and personal vehicle (use for the job will be compensated)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple complex projects
  • Strong communication, a positive attitude, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
