Project Manager - Strategic Initiatives

We are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented project manager to join the City’s Strategic Initiatives Division as a key member of our Project Delivery Team in this temporary full-time exempt position for approximately two (2) years.

 

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, Strategic Initiatives, you will be involved both directly and as part of an external project management team, in the delivery of municipal projects, including new facilities such as the Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre, site preparation for the North Shore Neighbourhood House, as well as major energy retrofit, fire life safety and accessibility upgrades to the Mickey McDougall Gymnasium. For these projects, you will primarily be involved in the delivery of public realm, civil utilities, mechanical and electrical infrastructure as well as be involved as the owner’s representative through the commissioning stages. You will oversee the planning and development of design with project and consultant teams, coordination of design and permitting with City departments, coordination of site servicing and off-site works, preparation and review of procurement documents, construction contract administration and other project management responsibilities, to ensure projects meet rigorous reporting, timeline and budget requirements. You will also create and track project budgets and schedules, oversee the work undertaken by consultants and contractors, liaise with City staff, and ensure adherence to design and regulatory requirements, engineering standards and City Policies.

 

You have a degree in a related discipline (eg. Engineering, Planning, Landscape Architecture) and several years experience with managing large projects of institutional or complex nature, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Municipal experience and eligibility for professional registration (eg. EGBC, PIBC, BCSLA, ASTTBC) are preferred.  Proven team building, communication and collaboration skills are essential in this role, along with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple project components of varying size and complexity, and experience with contract management. A PMP/Contract Administrator certification, or similar, would be advantageous.
