Junior/Intermediate Landscape Architect or Designer

Why do you love design?  That’s going to be the first question we would ask you in an interview.  If part of your answer is, you love to problem solve and you feel your ability to do so makes those around you better, we are glad you are reading our posting.  van der Zalm + associates is seeking a creative problem-solver who enjoys collaboration on a wide-range of landscape architecture projects.  Our multi-disciplinary team of landscape architects, civil engineers, and arborists create integrated site planning solutions for projects across the Lower Mainland and beyond.  Our team is built on our T-R-I-C-I values:

Together – We are looking for a team player.  Our growing firm looks for design ideas from all our staff, not just senior designers.  We want someone who is going assist but also contribute.

Responsive – Our team believes our ability to communicate with our clients is part of what makes us successful.  We are looking for a candidate with strong communication skills that understands the importance of keeping our clients informed.

Integrity – This one is really an essential part of any good designer.  Do you have your client’s, the public’s, and the environment’s best interests in mind in your every day work?  If you do, you are still a contender.

Creative – We are looking for problem solvers with a keen design sense.  Not only at the large scale but also in the fine details.  Creativity for us isn’t just something that shows up on a site plan, it shows up in everything from the subgrade on up.

Involved – We encourage our staff to be involved in their design community.  That could be a local design panel, parks group, not-for-profit, or the BCSLA.  We are looking for designers that want to get involved not only at VDZ but in the design community as a whole.

Our ideal candidate would have strong construction knowledge and the ability to adapt to a diverse range of design approaches.  A background in construction or the nursery trade, local experience, and a winning attitude are all considered a plus.

VDZ+A will contact applicants that meet the above criteria and conduct interviews based on the resumes received.
